Rocky Mountain Scenery - Colorado Pictures From A Day In March 2005
 |
In March 2005, while I was still living in Manitou
Springs (just west of Colorado Springs), I spent a day photographing the amazing Rocky Mountain scenery in Chaffee County.
Buena Vista was my base, and I pretty much drove throughout the county
including Granite, Buena Vista, Salida
and the Chalk Cliffs area near Natrhop. The adjacent photo is a view of the steep rocky slope that's
east of the Arkansas River in "The Numbers" area. |

A photo of the Chalk Cliffs at the mouth of Chalk Creek Canyon.
The Mt. Princeton Hot Springs is in this vicinity, a few miles west of Nathrop on County Road 162. |
 |
It had just snowed the night before, but the
sun was out and the sky was blue. I took this "crooked" shot of Mt. Princeton on a
county road just east of Johnson Village. |

I love the pointed shape of Mt. Yale, which can be see from Nathrop area. |

Heading southward, here is the view of the northern Sangre De Cristo
mountains as one heads towards Salida. |
